This episode of the Vet Tech Café is a bit different. This episode is the collaborative effort of 5 different veterinary podcasts: The Vet Tech Café, Veterinary Anesthesia Nerds, Radio Vet Nurse, Two Vets Talk Pets, and this was all coordinated and edited by the Internal Medicine for Vet Techs Podcast. In this episode, the 8 individuals that make up these 5 podcasts discuss what exactly what COVID-19 is, how it works, and our own individual experiences with dealing with this virus, in terms of how our hospitals are operating. We also discuss how to find reliable information and some strategies to combat the mental health related side effects of being on the front lines. It is our hope that nobody listening to this podcast is or becomes directly affected by this virus, but we hope to provide useful information and a bit of a respite from this difficult time.

For this episode we interviewed Amber LaRock. She runs the instagram page Vet Tech and Travel which we have talked about before on our podcasts. (link below) We talked about her career path from working in an ER to traveling abroad and also her work as a writer. She also gives us a look into her adventures in Cambodia and Thailand working with rescue groups and also with some amazing wildlife. We would like to note that Amber has told us that the US embassy is asking all US citizens to go back to the US before they end flights in the coming week. All the countries around where Amber is have closed their borders so she's heading back to the US to ride out the storm!

In this episode of the Vet Tech Taproom, we dive into the current hot topic of the VNI and the petition that is making the rounds on social media asking for NAVTA to re-evaluate it's efforts. We realize this may be a very controversial topic, but please understand that we are not trying to advocate for one side over the other in this discussion. We are simply trying to discuss the issues and bring them to light. If there's something we say in this episode that you think we are wrong about, please please please contact us either on our FB page, IG account, Twitter, or by our email firstname.lastname@example.org. We would love to continue this discussion beyond just this episode.
